We’re very proud to have been recognised for our achievements as a family business operating in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington, thanks to the High Sheriff’s awards for enterprise

The awards have been celebrating businesses and business people in the Cheshire, Halton and Warrington areas since 2006, when they were launched by the then High Sheriff of Cheshire, David Briggs MBE. Excitingly, Hydraulics Online has been shortlisted in the category of the High Sheriff’s Award for Outstanding Family Business.

“This is a brilliant achievement for our team. Being shortlisted in this category is incredibly exciting for us,”

commented Helen Tonks, cofounder of Hydraulics Online with her husband Mark Tonks.

“We’ve always worked to embed our family values of trust, respect, integrity and accountability both into our home life and here at Hydraulics Online. Our team has really bought into these values, which is why Hydraulics Online is recognised in the industry for our tenacious, personal approach and our willingness to go the extra mile for our customers.”

Joining fantastic businesses across the Cheshire region

As a shortlisted entrant, Hydraulics Online will now progress to the next stage of the awards. This includes filming a short overview of the business to help the awards’ judges make their final decision.

That decision will be announced at a celebratory awards ceremony at the University of Chester campus in April. This will be the first time in two years that the High Sheriff’s Awards evening will take place, after having been disrupted by the pandemic and associated lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.

The 2022 awards evening will be held at the University’s Chester Business School on April 7, 2022, and will be hosted by Dr Giles Brandreth, author and broadcaster and current Chancellor of the University of Chester.

This year, there are two new categories – the High Sheriff’s Award for Outstanding Community Engagement and the High Sheriff’s Survive and Thrive Award for Charities. These awards have been added to recognise our national experience during the last two years and how that has highlighted the vital role that we can all play in helping our voluntary sector – a sentiment close to Helen’s heart!

Fifteen years of celebrating businesses in Cheshire

Now in their fifteenth year, the High Sheriff of Cheshire’s awards for enterprise showcase what a vibrant and entrepreneurial region Hydraulics Online’s home county of Cheshire is.

This year’s awards have received a huge number of entries – highlighting the resilience of businesses and businesspeople throughout Cheshire, Halton and Warrington and our shared determination to emerge from the pandemic period with our best feet forward.

Helen Tonks commented, “The last two years have not been easy for any of us and these moments to celebrate our region and our achievements are really important for all of us. I’m so proud of the Hydraulics Online team who have worked throughout the last two years to continue to ensure our customers receive the excellent customer service that they expect from us. This shortlisting is really a tribute to all of their hard work and effort and I couldn’t be prouder of us all.”

We’re recognised inside and outside of our industry for our excellence in customer service, international trade and innovative support and collaborations with third parties.
