First launched by the UK Government in 2013, the nationwide Export Champion community is made up of a select group of UK businesses handpicked by the Department for Business and Trade.
Each is chosen for two defining traits:
- a proven track record of international success, and

Promoting an “Export Mindset”
Since 2017, Hydraulics Online has partnered with Manchester Metropolitan University to support undergraduate entrepreneurs through the Young Enterprise Start-Up Programme.
By contributing to judging panels, business advisor and mentoring sessions, we’ve encouraged students to think globally, act strategically, and explore international opportunities as part of their business journey.
First Announced as Export Champions!
In February 2019, Hydraulics Online was named a Northern Powerhouse Export Champion by the UK Government’s Department for International Trade (now the Department for Business and Trade).
It marked the beginning of our formal role in supporting UK exporters – sharing insights, mentoring peers, and representing British innovation on the global stage.
