Bonfiglioli wheel-traction drives improve precision and efficiency in Huddig revolutionary Tigon Technology backhoe loaders.

Bonfiglioli has designed and developed a dedicated solution to the new full hybrid technology machine created and manufactured by Huddig, a leading backhoe loader manufacturer in Sweden.

Bologna, Italy, March 2, 2017- Bonfiglioli, a leader in the manufacture of gearboxes, gearmotors and drive systems, has announced the development of the 600 series wheel-traction drives – specifically designed for Tigon Technology backhoe loaders, manufactured by Huddig. Each of the special 4-wheel traction drives is capable of reaching an output torque of 40.000 Nm, and is driven by a liquid cooled 30kW electric motor. The independent control of each wheel improves the backhoe loader’s performance on slippery surfaces. The Bonfiglioli 610 drives also increase the precision of the machine, making maneouverability easier in tight spaces, e.g. in building sites located at city centres. And in line with Huddig’s requirements, the 4 drives are perfectly quiet.

Tigon Technology by Huddig, is a hybrid technology that combines diesel and electric power allowing energy generation and regeneration in a way that has never been possible before for construction machinery: the concept machine achieves significantly lower fuel consumption than a traditional backhoe loader. Based on this technology and equipped with Bonfiglioli 4-wheel traction drives, the new Huddig hybrid backhoe loader stands apart from other types of construction equipment without producing emissions.

Bonfiglioli has been designing and manufacturing drives for the construction and off-highway industry for more than 40 years. Already a leader in these markets, Bonfiglioli increased its offering in 2015 with the acquisition of O&K Antriebstechnik and now offers the widest range of final drives on the market, including the largest final drive ever made (up to 3000 kNm torque). Over 30 years ago, Bonfiglioli combined its competence in electric motors with expertise in final drives to begin producing electric and hybrid technology products for mobile equipment, and now offers a complete portfolio of electromobility solutions
