We began one New Year with a technical hydraulic troubleshooting enquiry from the US Navy Office based in Okinawa, Japan – a modest 6,200 miles away from our UK headquarters.

Forged by the Sea

The US Navy needs no introduction. Their homepage once lead with the following colourful sentiment:

The sea is an incredible beast. It reaches impossible speeds, depths and distances. It cannot be beaten with the strongest fist, the sharpest knife or the fastest bullet.

In America’s Navy, water and salt flow through our veins in the same proportion as the sea. That mighty force is the lifeblood of the greatest Navy ever to sail upon it, slip beneath it or fly above it. It shapes Americans from every corner of the nation into Sailors with the courage to protect liberty back home. Bonding us with the commitment to serve with honour. The sea propels every one of our men and women to defeat or defend. To comfort or to awe. To victory or to the rescue.

We are America’s Navy. And we are all Forged by the Sea.

Reaching out to Hydraulics Online

“Greetings from US Navy Office, Okinawa, Japan”.

This welcoming message was the headline in an email sent from the US Navy Office based in Okinawa Japan to our technical team. The Marine Surveyor in question needed our help and service hydraulic troubleshooting two Eaton Vickers pumps on board the LCM, a so-called ‘landing craft mechanical’ used for carrying vehicles.

During an operational test they discovered that the pumps onboard had a limited flow and so they reached out to the experienced team at Hydraulics Online for help.

“Good morning,
I want to thank you very much for your guidance. We resolved it by bringing up the rpm. The oil pressure went up! Once again, thank you very much for helping us in a crucial time.”
