Welded body hydraulic cylinders have no tie rods. Instead, the barrel is welded directly to the end caps, while the ports are welded to the barrel. The front rod gland is typically threaded into or bolted to the cylinder barrel, allowing the piston rod assembly and rod seals to be removed for service.

This construction method offers several advantages over tie rod style cylinders:

Compact design – welded cylinders have a narrower body and often a shorter overall length, making them easier to fit into tight machinery spaces.
High-pressure durability – they do not suffer from tie rod stretch at high pressures or long strokes.
Customisation-friendly – the welded design allows special features to be added directly to the cylinder body, such as custom ports, mounts, or valve manifolds.

All cylinders are tested to 1.5x their designed working pressure. Standard finish is satin black enamel paint, but cylinders can also be supplied with plated, shotblasted, or marine-specification coatings for enhanced corrosion resistance.
