    Danfoss PVE ‘E’ Series Piston Pumps

    Vickers PVE ‘E’ Series pumps are in-line, variable displacement axial piston pumps available in three displacement sizes: PVE012, PVE19 and PVE21. Pump displacement is varied by pressure and/or flow compensator controls, with an assortment of optional controls offering flexibility for different applications. PVE pumps are produced in North America and are also positioned as a genuine OEM replacement option for restoring original machine performance, with an industrial control option offering a standard D03 interface.

    PVE19 and PVE21 share a common frame size and support a thru-drive option, allowing a second pump to be mounted from the same shaft; PVE012 is a smaller, standalone unit without thru-drive capability. Maximum operating speed, pressure and torque all vary by model; see Displacement, Speed and Pressure by Model below rather than relying on a single headline figure.

    A choice of pressure compensator, load-sensing, remotely adjustable or unloading valve controls allows the pump’s output to be matched to the application; see Control Options below. Standard hydraulic fluids are supported, along with water glycol, phosphate ester and polyol ester fire-resistant fluids on PVE012 and PVE19, subject to reduced pressure, speed and temperature limits.

    Control Options

    The following control options are available on the PVE series.

    A – Pressure compensator

    Standard control. Automatically varies pump displacement to meet system flow demand at a constant system pressure. Displacement reduces to zero within 14 bar (200 psi) of the compensator setting, minimising power draw-off so that system relief valves should not be required. A version with an independent screw adjustment for maximum displacement, from 100% down to 25%, is also available.

    B – Load sensing compensator with pressure limiter

    Provides load-sensing control under all pressure conditions up to a desired maximum, automatically adjusting pump flow in response to a remote pressure signal and maintaining outlet pressure at approximately 11 bar (160 psi) above load pressure. An integral pressure limiter overrides load sensing as the preset maximum pressure is approached, with override beginning within 14 bar (200 psi) of that setting. A 24 bar load-sensing option is also available.

    D / J – Remote adjustment compensator

    As the A (pressure compensator) option, except the compensator setting can be changed remotely via a pilot relief valve.

    E – Unloading valve (accumulator circuits, PVE19/21 only)

    The pump unloads to a no-flow, low-pressure standby condition (approximately 14 bar / 200 psi) at a preset pressure, and returns to full flow once system pressure drops to approximately 85% of that setting. Adjustment range is 100 to 210 bar (1500 to 3000 psi) for PVE19, or 100 to 186 bar (1500 to 2700 psi) for PVE21. A separate check valve is required to maintain the accumulator charge.

    Adjustable maximum displacement stop

    Available on any control type. An independent screw adjustment allows maximum pump delivery to be set externally between 25% and 100% (not recommended below 50% on PVE19/21). A minimum of 40% is recommended to assist priming.
