Vickers Hydraulic Pumps

Vickers hydraulic pumps have been used in industrial and mobile hydraulic systems for over a century. The range includes fixed displacement vane pumps and open‑circuit axial piston pumps, covering applications from medium‑pressure industrial machinery to heavy‑duty mobile equipment.

The Vickers name passed from Eaton to Danfoss Power Solutions in 2021, and the Vickers hydraulic pumps are now marketed as Vickers by Danfoss, with the same product families continuing under the same designations.

Vickers Vane Pumps

Vickers vane pumps are known for quiet running, consistent performance and straightforward maintenance. All series use a cartridge‑based rotating group that can be replaced without removing the pump from its mounting, helping to reduce downtime and simplify planned maintenance.

  • V Series: Fixed-displacement vane pumps for low- to medium-pressure industrial applications. Available in single and double configurations. A straightforward, durable choice for steady‑state industrial systems.
  • V10 and V20 Series: Fixed-displacement vane pumps for low- to medium-pressure mobile and industrial use. Commonly specified as pilot and auxiliary pumps within larger hydraulic systems and widely used on commercial vehicles and heavy‑duty trucks. Available as single pumps (V10, V20) and double pumps (V2010, V2020).
  • VMQ Series: Fixed-displacement vane pumps with the highest pressure ratings in the Vickers vane pump range. Available in three single-pump and three thru-drive frame sizes with displacements from 10 to 215 cm³/r. Four double-pump configurations offer combined displacements from 20 to 398 cm³/r, and two triple-pump configurations reach up to 488 cm³/r. Continuous outlet pressure ratings reach 293 bar (4,250 psi) with permissible peak pressures of 310 bar (4,500 psi). The bimetallic wafer plate design provides seizure resistance and reliable performance in cold-start conditions, with a 10 million-cycle qualification. A hydraulically balanced design with no internal radial forces gives extended shaft and bearing life.
  • VQ and VQH Series: The VQ series uses a cartridge design with integral vanes, providing solid volumetric efficiency and straightforward servicing. Displacements up to 193 cm³/r, continuous pressure rating 210 bar (3,000 psi). The VQH is the higher‑pressure variant, using a ductile iron housing and revised rotor design to achieve a continuous pressure rating of 241 bar (3,500 psi) while retaining the same external dimensions. Both series are available as single and double pumps.

Vickers Open Circuit Piston Pumps

Vickers open‑circuit axial piston pumps cover a wide range of medium‑duty and heavy‑duty industrial applications. All are variable displacement units with multiple control options for pressure and flow management.

  • PVB and PFB Series: Variable (PVB) and fixed (PFB) displacement axial piston pumps for industrial and mobile applications. Operating pressures up to 210 bar, displacements from 10.5 to 197.5 cm³/r and speeds up to 3,600 rpm. Control options include load sensing and mechanical lever control.
  • PVE Series: Open‑circuit variable displacement piston pumps for industrial applications requiring stable, repeatable performance.
  • PVH Series: Heavy‑duty open‑circuit variable displacement piston pumps for demanding industrial applications. Available in four frame sizes: PVH57, PVH74, PVH98 and PVH131. Commonly specified for hydraulic presses, injection moulding and machine tool systems.
  • PVM Series: Medium‑duty open‑circuit variable displacement piston pumps with good noise characteristics and a compact envelope. The current Code B design incorporates updated components for extended service life, a high pressure shaft seal as standard, standardised housing and components, and is available in 14 sizes.
  • PVMX Series: The latest Vickers by Danfoss medium-duty axial piston pump, introduced as the next generation beyond the PVM series. Initially available in 28 cm³ displacement. Continuous operating pressure up to 350 bar (5,000 psi), maximum pressure up to 420 bar (6,000 psi), rated speed 3,800 rpm. Two-quadrant capability, optimised for variable speed drive systems. When used with a servo motor drive, energy savings of up to 80% are achievable compared with fixed-speed pump systems, depending on duty cycle. The PVMX is the quietest pump in its class at 72 dB(A) at 280 bar.
  • PVQ Series: In‑line variable displacement piston pumps with low operating noise, often quieter than the electric motor driving them. Displacement is controlled via pressure and/or flow compensators. Compatible with water‑glycol, phosphate ester and standard petroleum‑based and synthetic fluids. Available in a thru‑drive configuration.
  • Hydrokraft PVW, PFW, PVX, PFX, TVW and TVX Series: Heavy‑duty piston pumps and tandem combinations for high‑pressure, continuous‑duty applications. Available in fixed and variable displacement configurations with modular construction and flexible mounting options.
  • X20 Series: Open‑circuit piston pumps for industrial applications where compact size and reliable performance are required.
