    Vickers VMQ Series Vane Pumps

Vickers VMQ pumps are fixed-displacement, balanced vane pumps offering the highest pressure capacity and lowest noise levels in their design class. Available in single, thru-drive, double and triple pump configurations across three frame sizes (25, 35, 45), they combine into displacements from 10 cm³/rev up to 488 cm³/rev on the triple pump version, with continuous pressure ratings up to 293 bar (4250 psi) on the 25 frame.

A unique bi-metallic wafer plate construction allows for increased viscosity and pressure rise during cold start-up, and its durable rib design gives a stronger support plate qualified to 10 million cycles. The pumps are hydraulically balanced, with no internal radial forces on the shaft or bearings, giving almost limitless shaft and bearing life under normal conditions.

Interchangeable cartridges between single, thru-drive, double and triple pumps simplify cartridge selection and reduce spare parts inventory, and removable cartridges, usually with the pump in-line, make maintenance or flow changes straightforward. A common inlet reduces the number of ports needed and the cost of redundant hose and fittings. Shaft seal options include a single, primary seal for dry-mount applications, or a double, secondary seal for wet-mount applications such as gearboxes, which extends shaft life.

VMQ pumps are rated separately for industrial and mobile duty, with different pressure, speed and temperature limits reflecting the different operating conditions; see the performance tables below. They are compatible with anti-wear hydraulic oil, automotive crankcase oil, and fire-resistant and biodegradable fluids.

    Configurations

Single and thru-drive pumps are available in frame sizes 25, 35 and 45, coded VMQ125S/VMQ135S/VMQ145S (single) and VMQ125T/VMQ135T/VMQ145T (thru-drive). Thru-drive units provide a rear mounting pad for a second pump, with coupling options for a range of Vickers piston, vane and double pump models.

Double pumps combine a front and rear section in a single housing, in four configurations: VMQ22525 (25 front, 25 rear), VMQ23525 (35 front, 25 rear), VMQ24525 (45 front, 25 rear) and VMQ24535 (45 front, 35 rear).

Triple pumps combine three sections, in two configurations: VMQ3352525 (35 front, 25 middle, 25 rear) and VMQ3453525 (45 front, 35 middle, 25 rear).

Shaft loading must be checked where multiple sections of a double, triple or thru-drive pump are to be run under load together, as they cannot be assumed to run simultaneously at rated pressure.

    Fluid Compatibility

VMQ pumps can run on standard anti-wear hydraulic oil, automotive crankcase oil, and fire-resistant and biodegradable fluids. Where operating with a fluid viscosity above 54 cSt (industrial) or 100 cSt (mobile), outlet pressure should not exceed 50% of the maximum rating until the system has warmed up. Water glycol fluid is also supported, subject to a minimum viscosity of 18 to 20 cSt, a maximum continuous outlet pressure of 207 to 228 bar depending on frame size, and a maximum operating speed of 1800 rev/min (900 rev/min minimum).
