    Danfoss X20 Piston Pumps

Danfoss X20 pumps are variable displacement, open-circuit axial piston pumps designed for medium-pressure mobile equipment, available across three series (220, 420, 620) and seven displacements from 18 to 98 cm³/rev. A compact, single-piece housing has 25% fewer components than traditional piston pumps, reducing leak points and simplifying maintenance, while a strong, field-proven rotating group and high-load-capacity bearings support long service life.

A broad range of control options allows machine performance to be optimised for pressure, power or displacement, from simple mechanical load-sensing and pressure compensation through to fully electronic displacement and pressure controls for machines with advanced electrified systems; see Control Options below.

A unique control piston design with a special coating minimises friction, and bronze piston shoes resist wear from fluid contamination. Pumps are available with side- or rear-ported main ports, multiple case drain port positions, and thru-drive options for mounting an additional pump, giving flexibility to overcome a wide range of installation challenges.

    Control Options

Pressure and flow (load sense) compensator

Standard control on all series. Matches pump output to system load demand, maximising efficiency and improving load metering; in low-demand periods the pump operates in a low-pressure, zero-flow, energy-saving standby mode.

    Pressure compensator (only)

Continuously modulates flow to meet changing load demand at a pre-set compensator pressure; below this pressure the pump runs at maximum displacement.

    Mechanical Torque Control (MTC)

Available on 420 and 620 series, 41 to 98 cc. Limits torque input to the pump to prevent engine stalling and optimise use of available engine power, without complex electronic control architecture. Externally adjustable, fully field-settable across a wide range of torque limits without disassembly.

    Remote Pressure Control (RPC)

Pump outlet pressure is set via an external remote relief valve connected to the pilot port, de-stroking the pump to maintain the set pressure; a secondary fixed pressure compensator provides fail-safe overpressure protection.

    Electronic Displacement Control (EDC)

Pump displacement is controlled by an external current signal to a solenoid valve, proportional to the signal. Available in “EP” (returns to minimum displacement on power loss) and “EPD” (returns to maximum displacement on power loss) fail-safe variants.

EH Inverse Proportional Pressure Control (IPPC)

Maximum pump outlet pressure is varied inversely to an external current signal, reducing as the signal increases. Adjustable between 110 and 280 bar (1595 to 4060 psi).

    Electronic De-stroke (Cold Start) Valve

Reduces pump start-up torque in cold weather by directing outlet pressure to the control piston, using a 12 or 24 VDC directional control valve fitted between the pump housing and compensator.
