Vickers V10 and V20 Vane Pumps

Vickers V10 and V20 pumps are fixed-displacement, balanced vane pumps designed for low- to medium-pressure mobile and industrial applications. They are widely used as pilot and auxiliary pumps for complex hydraulic systems, and as standard steering pump technology for heavy-duty trucks and interstate buses.

Internal inlet and outlet pressure chambers are diametrically opposed, so pressure-induced radial loads are balanced, and bearings need only carry the external load, supporting long bearing life. Low vane tip and ring loading allow high-pressure operation, and inlet flow paths are designed for uniform oil acceleration, giving good filling characteristics, particularly at low inlet pressures.

V10 single pumps have rated flow capacities of 1 to 7 US gpm; V20 single pumps, 6 to 13 US gpm. Double pumps (V2010, V2020) combine a shaft-end and cover-end pump in a single housing driven through a single shaft coupling, providing a single power source for two separate hydraulic circuits, or greater combined delivery.

A higher-pressure H-Series (V10H, V20H, V2010H, V2020H) is also available, rated to 204 to 207 bar (3000 psi) depending on model, in the same envelope size as the standard range; see the H-Series section below for full specifications and cover options.

V10/V20 pumps run on standard anti-wear hydraulic oil or automotive crankcase oil, and nitrile seals as standard support water-glycol, water-in-oil emulsion, polyol ester and high-water-base fluids; phosphate ester fluids require fluorocarbon seals, identified in the model code.

    Double Pumps (V2010, V2020)

V2010 double pumps combine a V20-range shaft-end pump (ring sizes 7 to 13) with a V10-range cover-end pump (ring sizes 1 to 7). V2020 double pumps combine a V20-range shaft-end pump with a V20-range cover-end pump (ring sizes 6 to 11). Both share the same per-section displacement, speed and pressure ratings as the corresponding V10 and V20 single pump ring sizes above; shaft loading must be checked where both sections are to be pressurised together, as they cannot be assumed to run simultaneously at rated pressure. Total pump weight depends on the specific shaft-end and cover-end ring size combination ordered, so is not given as a single per-model figure.

    H-Series (V10H, V20H, V2010H, V2020H)

The H-Series shares the same envelope size as the standard range but is rated to a higher pressure: up to 207 bar (3000 psi) on V10H, and 204 bar (3000 psi) on V20H, V2010H and V2020H.

    V2010H and V2020H Double Pumps

V2010H double pumps combine a V20H-range shaft-end pump (ring sizes 5 to 13) with a V10H-range cover-end pump (ring sizes 1 to 7). V2020H double pumps combine a V20H-range shaft-end pump with a V20H-range cover-end pump (ring sizes 5 to 13). Both share the same per-section displacement, speed, pressure and weight ratings as the corresponding V10H and V20H single pump ring sizes above; maximum speed is controlled by the largest ring fitted to the unit.

    H-Series Cover Options

Selected via the model code, the following cover types are available on H-Series single and double pumps:

    • Standard cover
    • Priority valve cover with relief valve (cover rated to 2500 psi)
    • Flow control cover with relief valve
    • Flow control cover with internal drain and relief valve
    • Directional control valve manifold (V20H and V2010H only)
    • Pressure relief cover

    Fluid Compatibility

Fire-resistant fluids should have a viscosity as close as possible to that of the recommended petroleum oil, with a maximum specific gravity of 1.3 suggested. Recommended fluid cleanliness for fixed vane pumps is ISO 4406 20/18/15 below 70 bar, 19/17/14 between 70 and 210 bar, and 18/16/13 above 210 bar.

For the standard range, maximum speed and pressure using fire-resistant fluids reduce from the anti-wear oil ratings above: water-in-oil emulsion and synthetic fluid are limited to 1800 rev/min (1500 rev/min on the largest V10/V20 ring sizes); water glycol is limited to approximately 103 to 124 bar (1500 to 1800 psi) and synthetic fluid to approximately 124 to 159 bar (1800 to 2300 psi), depending on ring size.
