Medium Pressure Char-Lynn Motors

Char-Lynn medium-pressure disc valve motors provide higher flows and pressures than spool valve motors. Available in standard mount, wheel mount and bearingless configurations, the range covers swing drives, brush cutters and mowers, harvesting equipment, trenchers, forestry equipment and turf machinery.

The disc valve design is suited to applications experiencing high side or impact loading, requiring higher torque and pressure than spool valve motors can provide, or needing specific porting configurations.

Series overview

2K Series: Displacements from 80 to 490 cm³/r, continuous pressure up to 310 bar (4,500 psi). The latest version incorporates patented Drive-in-Drive technology which widens the range of available displacements. Available with a range of shaft, bearing, port and mounting options.
Two Speed 2K Series: Two-speed variant of the 2K series. An integral two-speed feature changes the displacement in a ratio of one to two, switching the motor between low-speed high-torque and higher-speed lower-torque operation via an external pilot signal. Suited to wheel drives and other applications requiring switchable speed ranges.
Delta Series: Displacements from 113 to 754 cm³/r, continuous pressure up to 276 bar (4,000 psi). Features an optimised Geroler® gear set and bearing capacity. Available with an optional integrated spring-applied, pressure-release parking brake — making it suited to swing drives and other applications requiring load holding. The brake provides a six-to-one mechanical advantage.
4K Series: Displacements from 160 to 490 cm³/r, continuous pressure up to 310 bar (4,500 psi). Available in standard, wheel-mount and bearingless configurations with a range of shaft and port options.
4K Compact Series: A more compact variant of the 4K for space-constrained installations. Same pressure rating and configuration options as the standard 4K.
6K Series: Displacements from 195 to 985 cm³/r, continuous pressure up to 310 bar (4,500 psi). With torque up to 1,685 Nm and flows up to 150 l/min continuous. Suited to heavy-duty mobile applications requiring high power density.
10K Series: Displacements from 345 to 940 cm³/r, continuous pressure up to 276 bar (4,000 psi). For the highest flow and torque requirements in the Char-Lynn disc valve range.

Spool valve motors use integrated shaft valving and journal bearings, making them compact and cost-effective for light to medium duty applications. Disc valve motors use a separate disc valve mechanism which allows higher flows and pressures, greater torque output and better performance under high side or impact loading – making them suited to heavier duty applications.
