Axial piston pumps use a rotating shaft to drive pistons aligned parallel to the axis of rotation. Depending on the internal design, the pistons are actuated by either:

Swashplate Configuration: The angle of the swashplate determines the piston stroke. As the shaft turns, pistons move back and forth, drawing in and expelling fluid with each cycle.
Bent Axis Configuration: The pistons are offset from the drive shaft, and their movement is governed by the angle between the shaft and cylinder block. This design is known for its high mechanical efficiency and durability under pressure.
